Silk Scarves and Batik Pictures
My original designs on hand-rolled silk scarves are created using
wax-resist and steam-fixed paints. This website features some of my collections
of scarves. Each piece is unique, having been individually hand painted. I also
offer a bespoke service to customers, designing exclusive products to coordinate
with an outfit or to illustrate an idea.
I have exhibited my batik pictures widely in the
North-West of England. They are created on silk, paper and cotton by a process of
alternate painting and waxing. The finished pieces are framed professionally.
They are mostly inspired by the beautiful coastal landscapes of Wirral and the mountains
of Snowdonia. The shapes, patterns and textures of rock and water form the
subject of my current work.
I am a qualified and experienced teacher and have run
workshops for schools, a Museum and other venues. Both children and adults
respond with pleasure to working in batik as no artistic skill is necessary and
the results are always exciting.
